Alterations were carried out to form a public house with a family dining emphasis. Sensitive design was required as the entrance atrium is accessed through the city wall which is an ancient scheduled monument.
The non-original timber gates were replaced with a frameless glazed entrance leading to a triple height atrium. Combined with the new glazed roof this gives an immediate sense of openness after passing through the imposing city walls. Upon ascending the atrium stairs the main space has been creatively divided into distinct dining areas and snugs through the use of low level partitions, alternating ceiling heights, decoration and furnishings.
