Leisure ▪ Licensed Trade ▪ Hospitality

Leask work within the licensed trade and associated sectors for professional developer clients. We also undertake work for private individual clients and smaller groups within this sector. Our background historically was in traditional pubs, most of which had the original public and lounge bars, you were lucky if they served food beyond a pie and beans and in some cases there were no female toilets. We cut our teeth working originally with Scottish & Newcastle and then on the expanding Belhaven portfolio.

Times have changed and we’ve seen this sector evolve to accommodate some great new concepts, operators with exciting visions and a demanding demographic. We’ve moved from traditional pubs to Concept Bars, Style bars, Gastropubs, Bars that serve restaurant quality food, Restaurants that now look like Bars, Restaurants with ancillary Bars, Restaurants with hidden Bars, Bars that don’t even look like Bars, Casual Dining, Premium Dining, Breweries which are micro, small and huge, Brew bars, Nightclubs, B&Bs, Guesthouses and hotels as after all, they have bars in them. Basically, if it sells alcohol there is a chance we will do it.

Given our exposure to the food and drink industry the practice also has substantial knowledge of licensing matters surrounding premises both for the sale of food and alcohol. We work closely with many leading licensing consultants to ensure our clients obtain the best operational premises for their current and future needs. We can provide assistance on matters ranging from the production of premises layout plans to minor and major alterations.

Leask also carry out selective residential work for clients who preferably have experience of property development and are either looking for something Novel or the existing building is of a high architectural merit.
